When we thing about post-wedding getaways, beach honeymoons seem to be among the first images that pop into our minds, and rightfully so. After months of planning the biggest production of your life, sweating over details and where to seat your guests, now imagine yourself strolling on a beach hand-in-hand with your loved one, warm sand between your toes…. Needless to say, some relaxed one on one time with your partner is an important step in starting your life together, and it doesn’t hurt when the backdrop is a fantastical beachy paradise. We’ve rounded up our favorite spots around the world for a honeymoon, and if you have any additional ideas we’d love to hear them in the comments.
The number one playground for the Americas features movie-set beauty, coconut-tree-clad mountains, verdant valleys of sugar cane and bananas, and pristine shores. With dozens of different Islands and miles upon miles of beaches, no matter what kind of beach honeymoon you are looking for and under which budget, one of the Caribbean Islands is sure to be your match. If a posh experience while rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous is what you are after, Anguilla or Aruba would be your best bet. If you want to incorporate so nautical sailing activities into your itinerary, St Bart’s is the way to go. And if all you want is some quality R & R on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world without paying obscenely expensive prices, the Dominican Republic or one of the Cuban Islands will be perfect for you. A lesser known gem in the Caribbean is Dominica. With 60 percent of the island still covered in rain forest—much of it protected within the confines of national parks—and more than 365 rivers (one for each day of the year), Dominica is a Caribbean version of the Garden of Eden and an unspoiled paradise.
Stretching from the world famous Cancun to the Mayan seaside city of Tulum, the Riviera Maya is an 81 mile strip of flat land and white sandy beaches. Dotted by towns (big and small), tropical jungles and underwater caves, in under 100 miles the Riviera has honeymoon spots for every kind of traveller. The city of Cancun is busting with shopping malls and towering resorts, while travelers looking for a more laid back and young experience can hop on a ferry to Isla Mujeres or Holobox, where they will find a village life feel, low rising resorts and plenty of mo-pads for rent to tour the islands. Our favorite spot in the riviera has to be Tulum, which is adjacent to the wild jungles and offers beachfront bungalows in a range of prices. The more adventurous travelers can drive from Tulum to neighboring Belize, which offers a completely different and wild experience.

There are many resorts among the islands, running the full gamut of price options. Standing out from the many islands are Palawan and Boracay, known for its beauty and vibrant nightlife nearby. Palawan is famous around the world for hosting thousands of aquatic animal species that cannot be found anywhere.
