Making Your Wedding Child Friendly

When planning a wedding, your guests’ happiness always comes to mind. But how often do people take children into consideration? During the planning process, you should be sure to include children friendly activities to keep kids of all ages entertained.

Kids’ tables are perfect for outdoor summer weddings, especially because this allows the kids to run around and do what they want without bothering the adults.  The range of kids at the table could be anywhere from 5 years old to 15 years old.  The kids will definitely appreciate the company of other kids more than they would of their mother’s and father’s.

The Kids’ Table

On the kids’ table, set each place with a bundle of crayons and a tiny jar of sweets. This way, the kids will be excited the moment they sit down at the table.

The (not) Table Cloth

Instead of putting a fancy tablecloth down on the kids’ table, consider putting down white paper instead. This will create a fun atmosphere for the children to use their crayons. Another fun way to let the kids put their crayons to use is to provide them with a blank placemat and allow them to design it themselves.

The Center Piece

Because flowers are not interactive centerpieces, consider putting Lego’s or bubbles in their place. This way, when the kids get bored they can simply reach to the middle of the table and start playing!

Kid Friendly Appetizers

Most children don’t find fancy hors d’oeuvres very appetizing. Be sure to include yummy appetizers such as mini hot dogs or small cups of mac and cheese for the kids.

I Spy

Another fun way to keep children entertained is by providing each child with a disposable camera and an I Spy checklist. Have them complete each task and whoever finishes first wins a prize!

An Open Bar

For adults, an open bar means endless alcohol. For children, an open bar has a different meaning: an entire table filled with sweet and salty treats that kids will drool over. This is every kids dream come true!

The Toast

When the time for toasts come around, children often have to raise their glass of water or juice. To make this a little more fun for children, give each child a glass of milk and a warm cookie to toast with.

Fun Favors

Every kid loves to be given gift bags. Put together a small bag with crayons, bubbles, stickers and coloring pages for each child. Also, offer goodie bags to fill up with dessert to each child.
